Hi, I’m Heidi Shaw. I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who works with adult clients struggling with life’s challenges such as grief & loss, relationship problems, life transitions, anxiety, and depression. My goal is to help you address these difficulties so you may experience more well-being and self-acceptance.
As a child of a therapist, I had the good fortune to learn the value of therapy and the gifts of being a therapist. This experience coupled with my caring nature influenced my career path. I began working with children and their parents as a school therapist. This experience provided me with invaluable knowledge on how our early childhood relationships and experiences affect us in adulthood. As my career developed, I moved into working with adults.
Being a therapist is a gift. It is very meaningful for me to witness my clients lessen their self-criticism and develop an inner voice that is more self-accepting and kind. When my clients learn self-kindness, they can provide themselves with more emotional support, accept their mistakes, learn from them, and take more risks. They can learn to be their own friend.
My clients say I am a compassionate listener who can be fully present and accept their pain and difficulties.
I have a natural ability to:
Our sessions will provide you with the comfort and safety to be yourself. I provide a space where you can be seen, heard, understood, and respected. This allows you to explore your thoughts and feelings. You will identify your needs and goals for therapy, and we will work together to address them.
