Individual Therapy also known as psychotherapy, talk therapy, or counseling—is a collaborative process between therapist and client that aims to facilitate change and improve quality of life. Therapy can help people confront barriers that interfere with emotional and mental well-being, and it can also increase positive feelings such as compassion, self-esteem, love, courage, and peace. Many people find they enjoy the therapeutic journey of becoming more self-aware, and they may pursue ongoing psychotherapy as a means of self-growth and self-actualization.
Some of the concerns addressed in Individual Therapy are:
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Addictions (alcohol, drugs, sex, gambling, shopping, etc)
- Career Dilemmas
- Coping Issues
- Difficulty forming or maintaining healthy relationships
- Eating Disorders & Body Image
- Grief & Loss
- Loneliness
- Self-Esteem Issues
- Stress
- Time Management
- Trauma
- Violence
Sometimes people who care about each other encounter impasses in their ability to resolve issues in their relationship. Therapist can help couples improve self-awareness, insight, communication, and relationship skills, particularly when couples attend together. Therapists utilize a variety of interventions to assist couples in resolving problems. Couples may be given assignments to work on, either as a couple or individually. Couples counseling is often complicated by one or both of the individuals having significant unresolved personal issues. It is important for participants to be willing to address their own internal issues as well as the personal issues of the other person in a non-blaming and constructive manner.
Some of the concerns addressed in Couples Therapy are:
- Marital Conflict
- Blended Families
- Child Rearing
- Cultural Issues
- Communication Issues
- Dating Issues

Family Therapy focuses on relationships within the family unit and takes place with other family members present. Family therapy may be the primary focus of treatment, or it could be used as a supplement to individual therapy. In Family Therapy, the family is seen as a “whole” system, rather than just as the sum of its individual members. Family Therapy is used to approach a wide variety of therapeutic goals. Rather than viewing problems as owned and caused by a particular family member (also called an “identified patient”), Family Therapy helps to identify the ways that relationship and individual problems are caused and maintained by the family dynamics.
Some of the concerns addressed in Family Therapy are:
- Abuse
- Anger
- Caregiver Concerns
- Child Behavioral Problems
- Child Conflict
- Disability
- Family Stress
- Illness
- Life Transitions
- Parenting
- Problem Solving
- School Concerns
- Sibling Conflict
- Spirituality
Distance therapy, also known as phone therapy or internet therapy, has evolved over the years as the therapeutic world has embraced the digital age. We offer different forms of distance therapy in an effort to reach a wider range of people in various locations and across distances. Please notate, all clients are screened for the appropriateness of distance therapy prior to the initial session as this method is not recommended for all clients and all concerns.
The difference between counseling and coaching is that counseling investigates the roots and causes of potential mental health concerns, whereas coaching focuses on the future that encourages personal development and self-improvement.
“Depending on the nature of what a client presents, coaching can be offered as an add-on to therapy or as part of the therapeutic process”.
Types of Coaching we offer:
- Individual & team assessments conducted
- Life or personal coaching
- Business or executive coaching
- Team coaching
Emotional intelligence / Social Emotional Learning focuses on the ability to feel, recognize, communicate, respond to, and understand emotions.

The value of Clinical Supervision to your development as a mental health professional cannot be emphasized enough. It’s important that you make the most out of the opportunity to benefit from the knowledge and experience of a licensed mental health professional and to develop a strong relationship that will facilitate your growth as a clinical social worker. Effective clinical supervision should help prepare you to pass the licensing exams.
I am currently providing individual supervision, in-person or via skype. Group supervision is provided if there is a minimum of five supervisees at the onset of group.
